Licensing registration examiner badly hurt in auto accident

-- Robert Mascardo had only been on the job for six months

Date: 12/3/2009

Another grim reminder of the highly dangerous jobs licensing registration examiners do for the Department of Motor Vehicles occurred on Dec. 2, when an applicant that 53-year-old Robert Mascardo was testing made an unprotected left turn at a busy Petaluma intersection and was hit passenger side by an oncoming car..

Mascardo remains in the intensive care unit at Santa Rosa Medical Center, recovering from a severed liver, dislocated shoulder, broken elbow, fractured pelvis and hip, and with possible fluid on the brain. Mascardo had only become a licensing registration examiner in March.
