Congratulations to our California Department of Justice special agents who assisted in the investigation of a Modesto drug dealer. Their work with federal agents in a methamphetamine case has resulted in a 10 year prison sentence for a 53-year-old Modesto man.
On Monday, May 6, 2013, a federal judge sentenced Jose Olivera Zapien to 10 years and one month in prison for possessing methamphetamine with the intent to sell.
According to court documents, in June 2009, Zapien sold 55 grams of meth and more than 452 grams of marijuana to undercover agents. After arranging to buy a pound of meth from Zapien, agents searched his home and seized approximately one pound of meth.
The case was investigated in part by the former California Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement's Mountain and Valley Marijuana Investigations Team.
