On Monday, August 19, HPAC and CSLEA are scheduled to meet with State Assemblymember Mariko Yamada, whose 4th Assembly District includes Napa and Sonoma Counties, to discuss safety concerns affecting the local communities and DDS Peace Officers and DSH Hospital Police Officers.
Assemblymember Yamada is very interested in Development Center and State Hospital safety and security as she has a Developmental Center (Sonoma) and a State Hospital (Napa) in her district. She also sits as the Chair for the Assembly Select Committee on State Hospital and Developmental Center Safety.
Planning to attend the meeting with Assemblymember Yamada is HPAC President Luis Jimenez (Coalinga State Hospital HPO), HPAC Vice President Joe Fessenden (Porterville Developmental Center Peace Officer), CSLEA President Alan Barcelona, Legal Counsel Ryan Navarre, Legislative Consultant Craig Brown, Communications Director Teri Cox, and two HPOs from Napa State Hospital.
Also on the calendar that week, August 21, HPAC and CSLEA have scheduled a meeting with new Office of Protective Services (OPS) Director Ken Hill and Health and Human Services Law Enforcement Consultant Frank Parrish to discuss the July 2013 Bureau of State Audits Report Findings and Recommendations. Also to be discussed are the safety concerns at the Developmental Centers.
