On Saturday, March 22, 2014, the CSLEA Consumer Fraud and Public Safety Foundation partnered with the Office of the State Bar and the California Bureau of Real Estate to hold the first in a series of town hall meetings throughout California. The event was held in Los Angeles at the request of Senator Kevin De Leon. The focus of the meeting was consumer fraud. CSLEA brought experts in the field of identity theft, unlicensed vehicle sales and unlicensed vehicle repairs to educate the audience on how to better protect themselves.
The L egal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, Los Angeles Center for Law & Justice and the Public Counsel Law Center participated in the town hall meeting as well. The constituents of Senator De Leon gathered to learn about the many ways they can better protect themselves against individuals who prey on unsuspecting citizens. Those in attendance asked many questions which the experts were able to address. The meeting concluded with this group of citizens better informed and armed with a better understanding of how to protect themselves against consumer fraud.
"Our CSLEA members and leaders are experts in public safety and consumer protection," said CSLEA President Alan Barcelona. "I want to thank CSLEA CFO Ricardo Sanchez, CSLEA Unit A Vice President Kenneth Ehrman and CSLEA Membership Committee Member Chris Ehrman for devoting their time, expertise and passion for public safety and consumer protection with this group of citizens in Senator De Leon's district. We are proud to partner with Senator De Leon in this important endeavor and look forward to working with other state lawmakers as they help to provide useful information to their constituents."
