DMV Investigators Bust Antioch Used Car Dealer Suspected of Rolling Back Odometers In A Very Big Way

AMVICANTIOCH - When Investigators with the California Department of Motor Vehicles suspected foul play at a used car dealership in Antioch, they went to work.   The suspicion?  Someone was rolling back the odometers making the cars look a whole lot "less-used" than they actually were.

Working undercover, a law enforcement officer posing as a customer,  explored the possibility of purchasing a minivan at California Car Sales in Antioch.  What happened next led to a search warrant and the arrest of dealer owner , Jorge Guevara.

"This is a very important story for consumers to see," said Kenneth Ehrman, president of the Association of Motor Vehicle Investigators of California (AMVIC) .  "First and foremost, if you suspect this type of illegal activity, let DMV investigators know.  Odometer fraud is on the rise and puts consumers at risk, not just financially, this a safety issue as well."
