SACRAMENTO- On October 14 -15, 2014, California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) President Alan Barcelona and CSLEA Legislative Consultant Craig Brown met with three Republican candidates who, if elected in November, will become California Assemblymembers.
The three candidates were Bill Brough, Assembly District 73; Jay Obernolte, Assembly District 33; and Marc Steinorth, Assembly District 40. Steinorth's meeting with Barcelona was via Skype.
"As president of the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association, this is a chance for me to personally introduce myself on behalf of our nearly 7,000 law enforcement, public safety and consumer protection members," said Barcelona. "Our members have concerns they want lawmakers to address and we want to be sure our members' concerns are the elected legislators' concerns as well. Sometimes you have to say, 'your position on this does not reflect our CSLEA members.' It's always an honest conversation."
Candidate Brough is a Dana Point councilmember and running for seat held by Diane Harkey who has termed out and is running for a position on the State Board of Equalization.
Candidate Steinorth is currently a councilmember for the City of Rancho Cucamonga.
Candidate Obernolte is currently mayor of Big Bear Lake.
