A San Jose neighborhood is feeling a sense of relief after ABC agents posted a Notice of Suspension at the El Tarasco Bar on North 13th Street on Tuesday, December 16, 2014. The stipulations in the suspension essentially shut down the bar. The owner can transfer his liquor license to another individual or group of individuals at another location, but alcoholic beverages can no longer be served at 801 North 13th Street.
"When businesses that sell alcoholic beverages become a nuisance for people who live and work in the area, ABC agents team up with local law enforcement officers and, in an undercover capacity, take a close and inside look at what is happening," said California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) President Alan Barcelona. "People complained about illegal activity, noise and blight. ABC agents determined drugs were being sold by an employee on the premises and other alcoholic beverage control laws were being violated."
The Department’s eight count accusation against the license alleges that the owner knew and allowed drugs to be sold at his place of business and also permitted illegal drink solicitations to take place on the premises.
