On February 28, 2015, California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) held a membership meeting for seasonal lifeguards in the Ventura area.
"This was a chance for us to meet with about 20 seasonal lifeguards and educate them about their contract and ways to improve their working conditions," said Ricardo Sanchez, CSLEA CFO and President of the CSLEA affiliate, California Association of Law Enforcement Employees (CALEE).
Also in attendance for CSLEA were Member Services Representatives John Knight, Bernadette Gonzalez and Chris Ehrman.
The group discussed issues pertaining specifically to the classes of Lifeguard I (seasonal) and Lifeguard II (seasonal), including the dues structure, competitive pay, safety concerns, and how to become more involved within CSLEA.
"This was a positive step forward with some committed members stepping up and taking a lead role," said Sanchez. "We look forward to working with the seasonal lifeguards to make needed changes in their job classifications."
