WEST SACRAMENTO- On Monday, November 9, 2015, California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) Member Services Representatives George Pina and Marco Castro visited the CHP Academy in West Sacramento to talk with 11 CHP Public Safety Dispatchers-in-training.
"There's a lot to process when you're new to state employment and training to become a CHP Public Safety Dispatcher," said Pina. "We like to visit during training, provide lunch, and answer any questions they have as they negotiate their learning curves. "
In addition to answering questions, Pina and Castro presented the benefits and services CSLEA provides for its members. "It's important that we let them know about the basic life insurance policy, that our attorneys are available to them, how they can participate in our discount program and why it's important to have a legal defense fund available to them. New employees may not anticipate needing some of this, but our experience tells us, they sometimes do."
The dispatchers learned that by joining CSLEA as members, they become part of an association made up of thousands of law enforcement, public safety and consumer protection professionals who work for the State of California and together they have a strong voice at the Capitol and throughout the state.
