VALLEJO - Acting on a tip that a Vallejo store owner was violating Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) laws, ABC agents went undercover in a month-long investigation at J&R Gas and Mini Mart that resulted in the store owner's arrest on August 12, 2016.
The store owner, is accused of buying "stolen" liquor from undercover ABC agents to resell in the mini mart. According to ABC, agents sold purportedly stolen liquor to the owner while inside the store on several occasions. On the final visit, the owner bought multiple bottles with an estimated retail value of more than $2,000. During the arrest, agents recovered some of the previously purchased bottles and determined they were being offered for sale at the business.
In addition to the criminal charges, ABC will seek administrative action against the ABC license at the business, which could lead to suspension or revocation of sale privileges.
"ABC laws are in place to protect the public and licensees," said California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) President Alan Barcelona. "ABC agents routinely work undercover to investigate illegal acts and to arrest those violating the law."
