CHP-PSDA Vice President and CHP Public Safety Dispatcher Victor Tovar
By CHP-Public Safety Dispatchers Association Vice President Victor Tovar
I have been with the California Highway Patrol for about two decades. I like my job as a public safety dispatcher because I enjoy helping people! I especially enjoy assisting the elderly, kids and the Spanish speaking public.
I’ve been involved with the CHP-PSDA and CSLEA since 1998, first as a site representative at the Sacramento Communications Center, then as a division representative for Valley Division. I was then voted in as VP with my partner in crime CHP-PSDA President Tina Brazil.
I enjoy being a part of our association just as much as being that voice on the other end of the phone and/or radio. I have been honored several years for Dispatcher for the Year. I am deeply involved with our peer support program, which is dear to my heart for it helped me tremendously, after my very dear friend and CHP officer was shot and killed. He lost his life on the job and I was the dispatcher on the radio that afternoon in Nov 2005.
I will always praise my dispatchers whenever I get a chance to! We do a thankless job and are sometimes forgotten. I don't forget!
CSLEA THANKS ALL ITS PUBLIC SAFETY DISPATCHERS AND COMMUNICATIONS OPERATORS FOR THEIR SERVICE! ENJOY NATIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATORS WEEK! THE SPOTLIGHT IS ON YOU, AND FOR GOOD REASON!
