WEST SACRAMENTO – California Highway Patrol (CHP) dispatchers training at the CHP academy in West Sacramento had the opportunity to meet with several union leaders and representatives during their lunch hour on December 10, 2018.
CHP-Public Safety Dispatchers Association (CHP-PSDA) Vice President Victor Tovar and Site Representative Suzanna Nasca introduced themselves and shared their personal experiences as they relate to the need for union membership including access to the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association’s (CSLEA) proven Legal Defense Fund (LDF).
CSLEA Member Services Representatives George Pina and Marco Castro also shared the many benefits of CSLEA membership including immediate access to an attorney, the exclusive member discounts program, grievance and complaint representation, a basic $15,000 life insurance benefit, and voting on the 2019 Bargaining Unit 7 contract.
“This was a great opportunity for us to meet with 14 dispatchers, one who is already a valued member of CSLEA and CHP-PSDA, and 13 who see the value and importance of union membership and opted to become part of our strength in numbers,” said CSLEA President Alan Barcelona. “These public safety professionals will face many challenges in their career and we are here to assist them. Welcome to our CSLEA family!”
