WEST SACRAMENTO - On March 22, 2021, eight new dispatchers training at the CHP Academy in West Sacramento met with union representatives from the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) and the CHP-Public Safety Dispatchers Association (CHP-PSDA).
CSLEA Senior Counsel Andrea Perez and CHP-PSDA Vice President Victor Tovar conducted a new employee orientation which allows them to meet the dispatchers in a small setting, introduce themselves, answer questions and discuss the benefits of becoming a union member.
“Training to become a public safety dispatcher is intense. There is so much to learn. In addition to that, it can be very confusing wading through state worker material,” said Perez. “We like to meet our newest members early on, so they know who we are and how to contact us. I thank our group today for taking an interest in our organizations and recognizing the benefits of union membership.”
