“An undercover decoy operation in which no clerk sells to the decoy is deemed an absolute success! We thank those who check IDs for their diligence and very much appreciate the work that California ABC agents and their local law enforcement partners conduct to protect the public.”

GREENFIELD – California ABC agents and the Greenfield Police Department officers are giving a big thumbs up to clerks at 12 businesses in Greenfield who denied the purchase of alcohol to an underage decoy working with law enforcement in an undercover operation.
On September 10, 2024, the agents and officers visited 12 local businesses that sell alcohol, and every merchant employee asked for identification, preventing the sales of alcohol to the minor decoy.
By checking identification, these employees are playing a vital role in preventing underage drinking, which can lead to dangerous situations such as impaired driving and other illegal activities or victimization.
In a post on Facebook, the Greenfield Police Department said, “We want to thank our business owners and employees for their commitment to keeping Greenfield safe! This operation was funded by the ABC Law Enforcement Grant, and we plan to conduct additional unannounced operations in the future to maintain our efforts in keeping Greenfield safe.”
