CAMARILLO – Agents from the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) and the Camarillo Police Department Community Resources Unit (CRU) issued two citations to store clerks who furnished alcohol to minor decoys on February 20, 2025. The citations were the result of a Minor Decoy Operation. In the operation minor decoys, under the direct supervision of law enforcement, entered Camarillo businesses to purchase an alcoholic beverage while being under the age of 21 years old. The minor decoys never lied to the clerks and presented their California driver’s license or California identification card when asked.
During the operation, two clerks sold alcohol to the minor decoys. The decoy was allowed to purchase alcohol at Ralph’s located 674 Las Posas Road and at La Bodega Market located at 2111 Pickwick Drive.
Suspects who violate California Business and Professions Code 25658(a) / Furnishing Alcoholic Beverage to a Minor, face a minimum fine of $250.00 and twenty-four to thirty-two hours of community service for a first violation.
“Store clerks can do their part to improve public safety by asking customers to provide their IDs. It’s important that we enforce liquor laws that are in place to protect us on out on the road and throughout our neighborhoods,” said California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) President Alan Barcelona
