California Department of Justice forensic crime lab assisted with evidence
UKIAH- On March 4, 2025, a Mendocino County Superior Court jury found Pedro Reynaga Gonzalez, 42, of Ukiah, guilty of misdemeanor driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and misdemeanor driving a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol .08 or greater for driving that occurred on August 30, 2024 in the Redwood Valley area.
The jury also found true a sentencing allegation that Gonzalez’s blood alcohol was .15 or greater at the time of driving. The evidence presented during the trial was that the defendant had a blood alcohol concentration of .21. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for March 25, 2025.
The law enforcement agencies that developed the evidence used against the defendant at trial were the California Highway Patrol and the California Department of Justice forensic crime laboratory.
“California Department of Justice criminalists work in forensic labs throughout California to assist law enforcement with evidence that ranges from blood samples to firearms. Their work in the lab and in courtrooms throughout the state greatly assist in the prosecution or exoneration of suspects,” said California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) President Alan Barcelona.
