EL CENTRO – On June 22, 2026, the El Centro Police Department announced that its officers, along with California Department of Alcohol Control (ABC) agents, conducted IMPACT inspections at 20 ABC-licensed businesses throughout the City of El Centro through much of June 2026.

IMPACT (Informed Merchants Preventing Alcohol-Related Crime Tendencies) is a program between ABC, local law enforcement, and alcohol license holders aimed at preventing alcohol-related crime before it occurs.

The inspections focus on identifying conditions that can contribute to issues such as loitering, public intoxication, underage drinking, litter, and graffiti. By working directly with business owners and employees, officers and agents provide education, crime prevention strategies, and guidance to help maintain safe and responsible establishments.

The IMPACT program promotes accountability and encourages voluntary compliance by identifying areas for improvement and conducting follow-up visits to ensure corrective actions have been taken.

The El Centro Police Department expressed appreciation for the cooperation of local businesses to help enhance public safety and improve the quality of life for people in El Centro.
