CAMARILLO – On June 25, 2026 the Camarillo Police Department announced that its Community Resources Unit (CRU), along with California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control agents, conducted Shoulder Tap operation to determine if any patrons entering local alcohol retail establishments would furnish alcohol to a decoy who was under 21 years of age.

 In the operation, minor decoys, under the direct supervision of law enforcement, approached patrons entering stores, presented money to them and asked them to purchase alcohol for them. The decoys also indicated they were underage and could not purchase the alcohol themselves.

The decoy operation was conducted at six businesses in the City of Camarillo. One suspect agreed to furnish alcohol and was cited and released for violation of Business and Professions Code 25658(a).

“We encourage members of the public to politely decline to purchase alcohol for those under the age of 21. While it may seem like a kind or cool gesture, it can lead to negative consequences and put people in danger of being hurt.  Thank you to California ABC agents and their local law enforcement partners for continuing these efforts to keep all of us safe,” said California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) President Alan Barcelona.
