SAN LUIS OBISPO – On July 5, 2026, San Luis Obispo Police Department detectives served a search warrant at Salinas Charreria Western Wear located at716 Higuera Street in San Luis Obispo.  During the search warrant service, detectives located boots that were made with python snakeskin, which is prohibited from being sold in California. With this information, detectives confiscated 85 pairs of boots valued between $400 to $600 per pair.

The boots were later turned over to California Department of Fish and Wildlife investigators who are continuing the investigation at this location and another in Santa Barbara County.

SLO PD extended its gratitude to CDFW for continuing to protect natural resources. This case is currently still under investigation.
