There is no shortage of excitement, or people, at the California Science Center as the space shuttle Endeavour display is now open to the public. The grand opening attracted thousands, Tuesday, October 30th, including Governor Jerry Brown.
Our California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) members who are museum security officers at the California Science Center were in the center of the display’s grand opening. The Endeavour exhibit is expected to attract as many as 7,000 visitors each day.
Museum security officers keep a watchful eye over the national treasure they now affectionately refer to as, “Big Ed.” And with additional crowds of people visiting the center each day, they continue to provide safety and protection.
“We know this has been an exciting and challenging time for our museum security officers,” said CSLEA President Alan Barcelona. “These are sworn peace officers who have trained for every thinkable, even unthinkable scenario. Not only does the California Science Center rely on them, at times, so does the Los Angeles Police Department and USC.”
