Pérez Earns Significant Law Enforcement Endorsement in Controller Race
The California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) endorsed John A. Pérez for Controller, announced the Pérez campaign. CSLEA is California’s most diverse law enforcement union representing more than 7,000 members throughout the state.
CSLEA members specialize in unique law enforcement practices and are frequently called upon to lead multi-agency task forces. They are special agents with the Department of Justice, 911 dispatchers, investigators, inspectors, criminalists, and wardens, who track down insurance scams, protect California’s natural resources, and analyze DNA evidence to solve cold-case murders.
“No other group of public safety officers and personnel protect Californians with the variety of law enforcement services our members provide,” said Alan Barcelona, president of CSLEA. “Speaker Pérez has protected those services by helping lead our state into economic recovery and ensuring the state budget prioritizes keeping Californians safe. We can count on his fiscal leadership as State Controller to continue to stand up for public safety.”
As Speaker, Pérez has worked to grow businesses that create good paying jobs while ensuring fairness for middle class workers and families. He led the passage of legislation creating GoBiz, to improve the state’s efforts to attract new businesses and investments in California. Now California’s job creation is set to outpace the rest of the nation for the next decade.
Pérez also helped raise the state minimum wage to $10 per hour over the next two years, which will put $2.6 billion into the hands of workers and California’s economy. He helped spearhead bipartisan reform of California’s workers compensation system, which will improve services and benefits to disabled workers and save California businesses billions in the coming years.
