On June 17, 2014, California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) President Alan Barcelona joined public safety and labor association leaders at a reception and dinner in support of the California Republican Party.
“It is vital, for our CSLEA members, that we build and nourish strong working relationships with leading lawmakers, from all sides of the aisle,” said Barcelona. “Events such as this allow us to meet, to network, to converse in a more relaxed setting, so that when it is time to discuss legislation that is important to our public safety and consumer protection members, we will have already established the groundwork for the roll-up-your-sleeves, serious, sometimes tense, conversations.”
The California Republican Party reception which included leaders and members from both houses, was held at Capitol Advocacy and was followed by dinner across the street at the Sterling Hotel.
“It was good to see Assembly Republican Leader Connie Conway and Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff who met with us earlier this month to discuss the importance of providing more money to maintain the Department of Justice’s, Division of Law Enforcement’s Multi-Jurisdictional Task Forces (MTF) and to expand the Special Operations Units (SOU),” said Barcelona. “There was a good showing of law enforcement associations at this event, including the Orange County Deputy Sheriff’s Association and the State Coalition of Probation Organizations.”
