On September 16, 2014, California Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) teamed up with Stockton police and served search warrants at five locations as part an active and on-going investigation into illegal gambling at “internet cafes.”
During the course of those searches, agents and officers seized vehicles, money and 60 computers. They also arrested Aram Mkrtchyan, 30, on illegal gambling charges.
“These illegal gambling places often lead to neighborhood and community problems, ” said Alan Barcelona, president of the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) which represents ABC agents. “ABC agents routinely work with local law enforcement departments to conduct undercover investigations and stings in an effort to keep people and neighborhoods safe.”
Agents and officers served search warrants at four locations in Stockton, including the University Hotel , the Fat Cat Internet Cafe, Mount Zion and Rolling J’s Smoke Shop. They also served a search warrant at a home in Sacramento.
