SACRAMENTO- On October 16, 2014, the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) Political Action Committee (PAC) endorsed two Republican candidates running for seats in the State Assembly.
The two candidates are Marc Steinorth in Assembly District 40 and Jay Obernolte in Assembly District 33.
Candidate Steinorth currently serves on the city council in Rancho Cucamonga and understands the reasons for public service pensions. His father served 20 years in the military for modest pay and a commitment to a pension after his service was completed.
Candidate Obernolte is currently mayor of Big Bear Lake. His view on public pensions is that a “contract made is a contract kept.” He recognizes that public employees plan their financial future by relying on the pension formula they were promised.
“We are proud to endorse candidates who respect public employees, the jobs that public safety employees perform and keeping the commitment made to them at the time of hire,” said CSLEA President Alan Barcelona. “When someone is nearing retirement after decades of service, they shouldn’t have their financial security threatened. “
