On October 2, 2014, California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) Unit-A Vice President Kenny Ehrman served on a panel of fraud prevention experts to share information with Assemblymember Joan Buchanan’s constituents in the community of Rossmoor.
About a hundred people attended the Thursday morning event to learn from public protection experts how to avoid, stop and fight fraud.
“As a DMV investigator, I see a tremendous amount of fraud,” said Ehrman. “I know the latest schemes, scams and rip-offs and can give citizens who attend our seminars a working knowledge of how to guard against it and also where to go for help if they have been victimized.”
Ehrman uses his law enforcement experience and warm-but-dry sense of humor to engage those in attendance in important information they can use on a daily basis. He covers identity theft, fraudulent documents, even reminds people with handicapped placards to keep them out of site when not in use because those placards are on a thieve’s list of things to steal from vehicles.
“Anyone who has been a victim of identity theft knows it is more than just a headache,” said Ehrman. “If I can help people to keep their identities safe and protected, then I’m doing what I love to do best, my job.”
