SAN DIEGO- As President and State Trustee of the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association’s (CSLEA) new Fraternal Order of Police Local Lodge 77, CSLEA President Alan Barcelona is in attendance today at the FOP 2015 Spring National Board of Trustees / State Presidents Meeting in San Diego.
“Joining the largest professional police organization in the country helps CSLEA to better serve its members,” said Barcelona. “I am pleased to join this distinguished group of professionals who promote public safety at the local, state and federal levels.”
The CSLEA Board of Directors voted unanimously to team up with FOP at its Board Meeting on February 18, 2015. By establishing FOP Local Lodge 77, CSLEA becomes one of the largest FOP lodges in California and can now offer additional benefits and protection including long-term disability and long term care plans, HR-218 coverage for CSLEA peace officer retiree members, an additional scholarship opportunity, education and training programs, reduced tuition at FOP colleges and universities and POST credit conversion towards college degrees. CSLEA members can learn more about these benefits here.
In addition to the added protection and benefits, CSLEA and FOP Local 77 become part of a national organization with more than 325,000 members. National FOP participates on numerous federal committees and is very much involved in federal legislation.
