On Friday, March 27, 2015, California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) Unit A Vice President Kenny Ehrman joined Assemblymember Mark Stone at a town hall meeting in Santa Cruz County that focused on helping senior citizens to protect themselves from becoming victims of fraud.
“We had a very nice turnout with an enthusiastic group of seniors who learned from public safety and consumer protection professionals about how to best protect themselves from schemes, scams and rip-offs,” said Ehrman. “I thank Assemblymember Stone for caring about his constituents. Seniors are one of the largest groups targeted by criminals. Those who attended the town hall heard from Santa Cruz County Sheriff Jim Hart, their district attorney’s office, the CSLEA Consumer Protection and Public Safety Foundation, the State Bar of California and the California Bureau of Real Estate, just to name a few.”
The seminar was held at the Highlands Park Senior Center in Ben Lomond (Santa Cruz County).
“This was in the Santa Cruz mountains and I know it took some effort for some of the attendees to travel to the senior center,” said Ehrman. “But acquiring the information that is presented at these town hall meetings is just that important. Seniors have worked their entire lives for what they have and it’s sinful that criminals prey on them, viewing them as easy targets with plenty of cash.”
