NORWALK- On August 28, 2015, ten California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) members received certificates of appreciation from management at Metropolitan State Hospital (MSH) for their contributions to safety and security at MSH. The annual appreciation celebration recognizes officers and communications operators for their outstanding performance.
“These nine members, eight from our Hospital Police Association of California (HPAC) affiliate and one from our California Association of Law Enforcement Employees (CALEE) affiliate, demonstrated their commitment to public safety and should be sincerely thanked for jobs well done. I thank them for their continued service and dedication to public safety and to the State of California,” said CSLEA President Alan Barcelona.

Officer Ernest Archuletta
-recognized for his exceptional commitment to the field training officer program.
Officer Benedicto Bernardo
– recognized for his exceptional commitment to the field training officer program and for his bravery and dedication displayed on July 30, 2015, in subduing and apprehending several combative and barricaded suspects.
Officer Roberto Duarte – recognized for his bravery and dedication displayed on July 30, 2015, in subduing and apprehending several combative and barricaded suspects.
Officer Andrew Essig – recognized for his exceptional commitment as evidence officer ensuring accountability and security of all seized evidence and for his bravery and dedication displayed on July 30, 2015, in subduing and apprehending several combative and barricaded suspects.
Officer Donaldly Espinoza – recognized for his bravery and dedication displayed on July 30, 2015, in subduing and apprehending several combative and barricaded suspects.
Sgt. Thomas Fisher- recognized for his contributions to the field recruitment team.
Officer Aaron Heer – recognized for his bravery and dedication displayed on July 30, 2015, in subduing and apprehending several combative and barricaded suspects.

Communications Operator Claudia Arana – recognized for outstanding attendance during probationary period.
“On behalf of the officers of the Metropolitan State Hospital Police Department, I would like to thank CSLEA Supervising Attorney Dave De La Riva, HPAC President Luis Jimenez and HPAC Treasurer Robert Johnson, along with CSLEA Supervising Field Representative Richard Carrillo for attending ,” said CSLEA-HPAC Member MSH Police Officer Jose Leal. “I had a lot of officers advise how they appreciated their attendance. Officers were able to talk face to face with those responsible for voicing all hospital police officers’ concerns to those in Sacramento.”
