On Monday, September 28, 2015, California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge 77 Vice President Kenny Ehrman will be one of a handful of presenters speaking at an identity theft and fraud prevention town hall meeting for seniors. The town hall is co-hosted by Senator Bob Huff and the City of Diamond Bar.
“On behalf of CSLEA, I travel throughout the state to participate in these town halls with California assemblymembers and senators,” said Ehrman. “It is gratifying to speak to seniors about things they should always do and things they should never do. For some, it is a real eye opener to learn how low the criminal element will go to swoop up their hard-earned nest egg.”
In addition to Ehrman’s participation as a presenter, there will also be a representative from
- the State Bar of California to address tactics of unscrupulous lawyers,
- the Walnut/Diamond Sheriff’s Station to discuss safety tips and any local trends in scams,
- and the Bureau of Real Estate to discuss real estate and mortgage fraud.
“Between four or five presenters, we are able to address just about every type of fraud you can think of,” said Ehrman. “From placards for the disabled, to insurance and prescription fraud, identity theft and everything in between. This is a chance for seniors to get to know each other and their senator and at the same time be updated on how to stop scammers in their tracks. Senior citizens are one of the groups most targeted by scammers.”
