MERCED –  A group of  senior citizens took an active role in learning how to protect themselves from fraud by attending a fraud prevention town hall in Merced on October 28, 2015.  The town hall was sponsored by Assemblymember Adam Gray and AARP Chapter 22.  Presenters included CSLEA FOP Vice President and CSLEA Foundation Chairperson Kenny Ehrman.

” Senior citizen audiences are my favorite,” Ehrman.  “I enjoy their enthusiasm. Their quest for  up-to-date information on the latest scams and their don’t-take-advantage-of-me attitude never fails to impress me.”

Ehrman spoke to the seniors about identity theft, how scam artists weave their way into ripping off seniors, and what seniors can do to ward off evil people looking to steal from them.  Also addressing the group was Tom Pool from the California Bureau of Real Estate.

“I invited the seniors today and all seniors to go to our CSLEA Foundation website, to like our facebook pageand follow us on twitter, for those who use social media.  We want to engage them and keep them up to date with our tip of the week and more.  I thank them for inviting me into their day, today.”

The seminar was held at the Merced Senior Community Center.
