On November 1, 2015, National Fraternal Order of Police President Chuck Canterbury sent letters to ranking  members of the Committee on the Judiciary seeking their help with the “Bulletproof Vest Partnership Grant Reauthorization Act.”

“This program has a very simple goal – to increase the number of law enforcement officers wearing soft body armor by providing matching Federal funding to State and local law enforcement agencies,” wrote Canterbury.  “This legislation would extend this program’s authorization through 2010.  The BVP is a critical law enforcement program and we hope you can help us get it reauthorized.”

The bill passed the Senate 99-0 in May.
