Plan for 2016
SACRAMENTO – On December 17, 2015 Fire Marshal and Emergency Services Association (FMESA) President Daren Watkins, Vice President Chris Fowler, along with California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) Senior Legal Counsel Andrea Perez, met with CALFIRE Director Ken Pimlott, Chief Deputy Director Janet Barentson, State Fire Marshal Tonya Hoover and their staff to discuss the Department’s activities and progress in 2015 and to address the plan for 2016.
“These meetings with CALFIRE leadership are very beneficial,” said Watkins. “Opening the dialogue between FMESA and CALFIRE leadership can only mean positive changes for our members. We are opening the doors and establishing positive communications for future joint endeavors.”
Items discussed included uniforms, CALFIRE policy and recruitment and retention issues. December 17th’s meeting was the second with CALFIRE leadership in 2015 with a third meeting planned in May of 2016.
“This is a huge step forward for FMESA in being recognized by the Department,” said Watkins. “As a result of these meetings, we have offered our resources in order to share employment opportunities represented by Bargaining Unit 7 within CALFIRE.”
