Jennifer Marks is an Associate Corporations Investigator for the California Department of Business Oversight (formerly the Department of Corporations), providing protection to consumers, litigation support, educational outreach to the public, assisting as the Department’s Enforcement Division’s Law Enforcement Liaison, Academy Coordinator and the Department’s POST Chief.
Ms. Marks began her law enforcement career as a correctional officer with the Nevada Department of Corrections (NDOC) in 2003. After her tenure as an officer with NDOC she served as a prison re-entry program supervisor, a contracted partner to the Nevada Clark County drug court program, seeking to reduce costs acquired by the criminal justice system and improve public safety overall. Her move to California in 2008 did not cease her desire to be an integral part of police and public service, becoming a sworn law enforcement officer for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, as a youth correctional counselor.
Ms. Marks received her Bachelor’s in Social Work from Seattle University and has an Associate in Applied Science in Counseling from Truckee Meadows Community College.
Ms. Marks serves as a member of the following associations and task forces: The San Diego Regional Task Force; Sierra Economic Crimes Task Force; International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators (serving as the Sacramento Valley Chapter’s Vice President 2015-2017 term); Law Enforcement Training Managers Association; Northern California Regional Intelligence Center; and as a past member (from 2012 -2013) of The Northern California Fraud Investigators Association.
