SACRAMENTO – The California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) Negotiations Team is scheduled to meet with CalHR on Monday, March 21, 2016 to officially open the Business Unit 7 bargaining session for 2016.
“Preparing for negotiations with the state involves a lot of behind the scenes work that, for obvious reasons, doesn’t get publicized,” said CSLEA President Alan Barcelona. “The CSLEA Negotiations Team, each of our six CSLEA attorneys, our affiliate presidents and their board members, and our membership services team, have been working since last spring to bring us to this latest leg in the process.”
Right up until the February 28, 2016 deadline, CSLEA received bargaining proposals from members. The CSLEA Negotiations Team conducted an in-depth review and researched each and every one of the approximately 150 proposals submitted by members. CSLEA attorneys are now drafting the language for proposals that proceeded through the vetting process and will be brought to the bargaining table. CSLEA affiliate presidents are currently arranging for presentations that will be made.
The CSLEA Negotiations Team is comprised of CSLEA President Alan Barcelona, Vice Presidents Tina Brazil and Tom Ineichin, CSLEA FOP Lodge 77 Secretary and CABCA Affiliate President Kevin Highbaugh, CFO Ricardo Sanchez, Chief Counsel Kasey Clark and Senior Counsel Ryan Navarre.
CSLEA will continue to provide updates on 2016 negotiations as new information is available. Due to the sensitivity of negotiations, many specifics will be withheld from publication during the bargaining process.
