In an outreach effort to visit with Department of Justice (DOJ) criminalists in Northern California, California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) Member Services Supervising Field Representative Richard Carrillo made a three day sweep to Chico, Redding and Santa Rosa DOJ offices. The outreach visits included conversation via Skype or phone call with Association of Criminalists-DOJ President John Miller.
“The members in the labs we visited were very happy to have an opportunity to ask questions about the new contract,” said Miller. “We talked about other issues not covered in this contract, some of which we will try to address in the next round of negotiations.”
“This was a chance for us to visit with our members, update them on association business and find out more about how we can best serve them,” said Carrillo. “We had some bumps during our visit in Redding as far as skyping and cell phones, but it was important to us to get up north and personally get feedback from our criminalists.”
Some of that feedback included the new online ballot used in the contract ratification process. “It made it easier for members to cast their ballots, we got a thumbs up on that,” said Carrillo.
