2016 Yolo County Senior Resource & Crime Prevention Fair October 13, 2016 - 9:00 am - Noon

SACRAMENTO-  In an effort to help senior citizens in Yolo County to protect themselves from becoming victims of crime, the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) will join Woodland Police, the Yolo County District Attorney's Office, the California Department of Insurance, the Department of Managed Health Care, as well as others, at the 2016 Yolo County Senior Resource & Crime Prevention Fair on October 13, 2016.

"This is a wonderful one-stop shopping event for seniors where they can get free flu shots, have access to onsite shredding, participate in some fun raffles, have a small breakfast, meet their local law enforcement team, discover resources that are available to them, and learn from public safety and consumer protection pros how to keep themselves, and their finances secure from predators," said CSLEA FOP Lodge 77 Vice President Kenny Ehrman.

woodlandseminar-8_2-900x600Ehrman chairs the CSLEA Consumer Protection and Public Safety Foundation and travels the state speaking to seniors about identity theft.  He will be one of the many knowledgeable presenters at the Fair, working to help seniors identify scams and helping them with appropriate reactions and solutions to fraud, as well as fraud prevention.

Also present at the fair will be California Association of Fraud Investigators Board Member Julie Lowrie representing the California Department of Managed Health Care and CSLEA Member Kim Johnson from the California Department of Insurance.

"Our very valued senior citizens have a lot on their minds, from health and financial concerns to living arrangements and who to trust," said Ehrman.  "We want them to know we are on their side, we are there for them, even if it is just to remind them of simple safety issues, whether it is on the phone, online or on their front doorstep.  We want to be a shield of protection between them and the bad guys."

Yolo County seniors will have a chance to tour a hall filled with resources, ask questions, and seek help.

"It's a fun and educational morning for them," said Ehrman.  "I know I'm thrilled to be a part of this and to meet them.  See you on the 13th."
