FREMONT - On April 26, 2017, California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) Member Services Representative Jim Laughlin conducted a membership outreach event for Licensing Registration Examiners (LREs) at the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) office in Fremont.
LREs are the front line of defense against keeping unsafe drivers off the road. LREs regularly conduct recertification drive tests with known problem drivers. The Fremont DMV office also conducts commercial drive tests for big rig truck drivers. LREs who conduct these commercial drive tests are required to have additional special training. One of the most difficult tasks when doing a commercial drive test is when the LRE realizes that the commercial truck driver is unsafe. Just getting the commercial truck safely back to the DMV can be a harrowing experience.
“When there is an accident between a truck and a car, the truck usually wins” stated CSLEA Member and LRE Aisha Irvin. Irvin says she recognizes the great importance of her job when she is driving down a four-lane highway with a guardrail on her left and a big rig truck on her right.
CSLEA would like to thank all LREs for their professionalism and ongoing commitment to keeping our highways safe.
