LINCOLN – On December 28, 2017, Lincoln police officers arrested Kimberly Davy, 64, of Lincoln for grand theft, following a lengthy investigation involving and California Department of Insurance investigators and Lincoln Police Department officers.
According to Lincoln police, the investigation revealed that Davy wrote insurance policies for a number of businesses after finding an agency that would insure them. She then offered them a discount if they paid in advance, and then allegedly used some, if not all, of that money for personal use.
“Kudos to insurance investigators and Lincoln police officers for putting their resources and expertise together to investigate this individual suspected of stealing money and leaving businesses uninsured when they paid to be insured, and thought they were insured,” said Alan Barcelona, president of the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA), the association that represents California Department of Insurance investigators.
Davy allegedly changed the clients’ addresses to her own, and when the agency sent delinquent notices and/or cancelled a policy, the client was not notified. This investigation began when a victim was notified that their payment was delinquent, despite having paid in advance.
Davy was arrested pursuant to a $50,000 arrest warrant and transported to the South Placer Jail.
