SAN FRANCISCO – On February 7, 2018, the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) hosted a membership outreach meeting with program representatives at the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) in San Francisco.
BAR program representatives are the highly trained professionals who investigate all aspects of the automotive repair industry. Currently, BAR program representatives in San Francisco are working on investigative projects that include inspection of used car lots to verify that the vehicles advertised for sale are smog certified.
Program representatives also conduct free auto body inspections for consumers, after auto body repairs have been completed. Auto body repairs are hidden by the vehicle’s body panels so it can be hard for the average consumer to detect if the repairs were done correctly and safely. The auto body reinspection program is used to identify auto body repair shops that may be committing insurance fraud. Program representatives also identify and investigate unlicensed automotive repair shops that operate in the underground economy.
BAR Program Representatives are another example of highly skilled CSLEA members protecting Californian consumers. CSLEA is proud of the great work being done at the Bureau of Automotive Repair.
