SACRAMENTO – On February 16, 2018, California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) and California Association of Criminal Investigators (CACI) Member Jose Sanchez reached out to CSLEA and CACI to thank the associations for their services and for a CACI presented “Lifetime Achievement” award.
Sanchez wrote:
“I want to thank the CACI Board for the achievement award. I have been an association member since 1987 when I began working with the Alcoholic Beverage Control, after leaving the Department of Corrections, and CCPOA. Later in 1994 I transferred to the Department of Insurance, Fraud and continue here as a Detective Sergeant in the Fresno Regional Office.
As a staunch union supporter, I have been a member of various unions, even before my law enforcement career. With CSLEA and CACI, I had the pleasure of serving as a trained union representative within my agency, representing and assisting members with grievance matters, internal turmoil, harassment issues, internal affair investigations, and as a subject matter expert at the Capitol on certain sponsored bills. I was later elected and served as CACI vice president.
The CSLEA legal team, the field representative of that time, and CACI have supported the many endeavors I undertook to help and assist the many members I was honored to serve. As you know it’s a thankless job, requires a high level of commitment and many hours of personal time, but at the end it’s what we do!
Now at 34 years of State service, as of May 2018, I prepare for retirement effective June 30, 2018, when I will enter a new chapter of my life. I am honored to have been recognized and encourage you to keep up the good work of the association, times are getting difficult and many don’t appreciate the many benefits and strength that only comes from unity, through an association.
Fraternally,
Jose Sanchez
Detective Sergeant
The CACI Board presented a lifetime achievement award to Sanchez in November 2017 for 20+ years of service.
“Jose Sanchez has served the State of California for 34 years and has served our association and our members,” said CACI President Dennis Maffei. “We greatly appreciate his efforts and congratulate him on well-deserved retirement.”
“Congratulations to Jose! We thank him for recognizing the important role of labor associations and for volunteering and becoming involved,” said CSLEA President Alan Barcelona. “Becoming a leader to solve workplace issues for your colleagues and bring things to the attention of CSLEA is beyond commendable. Enjoy your retirement, Jose.”
