ATASCADERO – On May 21 and June 7, 2018, the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) conducted New Employee Orientations (NEO) at Atascadero State Hospital (ASH) for newly hired police officers. The NEO gives new officers an opportunity to ask questions about CSLEA and its affiliate Hospital Police Association of California (HPAC) and gives CSLEA the opportunity to introduce its services and benefits.
“We represent these officers during contract negotiations, we represent them when situations arise at work and we have a proven legal defense fund for them, as members,” said CSLEA President Alan Barcelona. “Association membership is vital for law enforcement officers and public safety professionals. It’s protection for them and protection for their careers.”
State hospital police officers have a full range of duties that include protecting patients, staff, visitors, hospital grounds and property and the surrounding community.
Hospital police officers prevent contraband from entering the hospital and conduct routine vehicle stops on campus. Atascadero State Hospital police officers also provide allied agency response for the City of Atascadero Police Department.
CSLEA welcomes these officers to their new careers in law enforcement.
