SACRAMENTO – The California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) and several of its affiliates welcomed 36 members in two days this month, October 16-17, 2018. CSLEA membership services representatives visited new members at Cal OES in Rancho Cordova, the Department of Consumer Affairs in Sacramento, and the Butte College Academy in Oroville.
“CSLEA finds it very important to reach out to employees new to the state, so that we can introduce ourselves and our benefits and services,” said CSLEA President Alan Barcelona. “There is so much new information to consume when one starts a new career with the state, or transfers departments. We want our newest members to know who we are, what we do, and how to contact us. We are very member-friendly and are there for our members every step of the way. I am also very encouraged by the number of employees who recognize the strength of union membership and make the choice to sign up. Together we are stronger, and we work for our members day in and day out.”
Some of the topics covered with new CSLEA members include:
- CSLEA staff, attorney and board member contacts
- $15,000 basic life insurance benefit
- CSLEA’s Legal Defense Fund (LDF)
- CSLEA Membership Discount Program
- CSLEA and affiliate scholarships
- Upcoming contract negotiations
- Site representatives
- Grievance and complaint representation
