VALENCIA – Congratulations to California Department of Insurance (CDI) Detective Tawana Thompson on her retirement on July 10, 2019! Thompson, a long-time member of the California Association of Criminal Investigators (CACI) and the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) was presented with a CSLEA/CACI plaque for her 29 years of State service. CACI Representative James Pott presented the plaque. Det. Thompson began her State service with at California Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) and later lateraled over to CDI where she worked out of the South and North Los Angeles offices before retiring.
Det. Thompson was also presented with a Baker to Vegas CDI Fraud Squad plaque for participating every year as the Officer in Charge (OIC). In order to participate in Baker to Vegas each team must provide a sworn volunteer to be the OIC for an eight-hour shift. Det. Thompson was the team CDI team OIC for more than 13 years.
