SAN LUIS OBISPO – October 9, 2019, the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) and the Hospital Police Association of California (HPAC) conducted a New Employee Orientation (NEO) with state hospital police officer cadets at the Camp San Luis Obispo academy.
Camp San Luis Obispo is the primary training facility for newly hired hospital police officers. Cadets learn the skills they will need to protect patients, visitors and staff in state hospitals throughout the state as well as providing protection to the hospitals’ surrounding communities.
CSLEA Senior Counsel Ryan Navarre, HPAC President Luis Jimenez and HPAC Directors Ezra Cosby, Robert Barraza and Jennifer Chance met with the cadets, many of whom are already members of CSLEA and HPAC, to discuss situations the cadets may face as officers and the importance of having a union to turn to.
Union representatives answered questions from the cadets regarding CSLEA and HPAC benefits and the processes on how to contact their representatives and/or CSLEA attorneys should they need representation or have any issues or concerns they need to address.
