WEST SACRAMENTO – On November 18, 2019, nine California Highway Patrol (CHP) dispatchers training at the academy in West Sacramento received a visit from union representatives California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) Senior Counsel Andrea Perez and CHP-Public Safety Dispatchers Association Vice President Victor Tovar. Perez and Tovar conducted a new employee orientation, introducing the dispatchers to their union benefits and services.
The dispatchers are assigned to the Ventura, Golden Gate, Sacramento, Los Angeles and Humboldt communication centers where they will be assisting 911 callers and officers.
“It’s important that the dispatchers are welcomed and introduced to their union and support system,” said Perez. “Their jobs involve very long hours and can be quite stressful at times. The safety of officers, the community and those calling 911 is in their hands. It was great meeting nine of our newest members and sharing with them the benefits of union membership.”
