LONG BEACH – On November 20, 2019, investigators from the California Department of Public Health Food and Drug Branch joined the United States Coast Guard and other investigative agencies in a multi-agency strike force operation at the Port of Long Beach.
The purpose of the operation was two-fold – to educate and ensure compliance with federal and state intermodal containers. Intermodal containers can be transported via truck, air, and rail.
“Thank you to the law enforcement officers and agencies who participated in this operation,” said California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) President Alan Barcelona. “It is so important to our safety that companies are complying with container regulations. We all encounter these containers in our travels and we need to know the contents meet compliance as well as the containers themselves.”
The California Department of Public Health Food and Drug Branch assigned investigators from the Drug, Medical Device Compliance and Enforcement Section, Food Safety Inspection Unit, and the Food Transportation Enforcement Unit.
Among the CSLEA members from the California Department of Public Health Food and Drug Branch who were involved in the operation, were Investigators Bradley, Stys, Zugsmith, Maassarani, and Lambert.
