SACRAMENTO – On January 6, 2020, California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) President Alan Barcelona extended his sincere thanks and recognition to former CSLEA Director and Association of Motor Carrier Operation Specialists (AMCOS) President Lynn Brenneman for her more than three years of service on the CSLEA Board of Directors.
“Director Lynn Brenneman stepped up to union leadership to represent state workers and to work toward improvements for members of her affiliate. She has an admirable passion to be involved and improve working conditions for those in Bargaining Unit 7. She also encouraged union involvement among her colleagues,” said CSLEA President Alan Barcelona.
Brenneman served as CSLEA Director and AMCOS President from August 2016 through December 2019. During her tenure, Brenneman met with legislative leaders and those in constitutional offices and had the remarkable ability to showcase how her affiliate members greatly contribute to public safety and the need for improvements.
“It has been a whirlwind and a humbling experience representing AMCOS members,” said Brenneman. “I believe they are in good hands with the interim president and vice president. I would encourage everyone to step up, get educated about the union and get involved because only with solidarity will our plights be heard.”
“Lynn continually demonstrated her knowledge about the Motor Carrier Specialist position and effectively conveyed clear alternatives to changes her department was trying to implement,” said CSLEA Senior Counsel Andrea Perez. “She recruited and increased the number of directors on the AMCOS board which was a major accomplishment.”
As a CSLEA director, Brenneman made decisions that impacted nearly 7,000 state employees and their families. She was called upon to vote on very important matters from policies to political endorsements to multi-year contracts.
“Your voice, Lynn, and the voices of those you represented, were heard,” said Barcelona. “Lynn, you made a difference! You are an example of excellence and will be missed by our board and our association.”
Stepping in as interim president of AMCOS is Motor Carrier Specialist Cesar Bustos. “We look forward to seeing Cesar at our next CSLEA board meeting on January 13th at CSLEA headquarters in Sacramento,” said Barcelona. Serving as interim vice president of AMCOS is Motor Carrier Specialist Kevin Weaver.
