SAN LUIS OBISPO – On Monday, March 2, 2020, representatives from the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) and Hospital Police Association of California (HPAC) met with 36 cadets who are currently attending the California State Hospital Office of Protective Services (OPS) Police Academy located at Camp San Luis Obispo in San Luis Obispo.
HPAC Board Members in attendance included Officers Ezra Cosby, Thomas Pica, Michael Hakker, Jennifer Chance, Robert Barraza, and Luis Jimenez. CSLEA Supervising Legal Counsel Dave De LaRiva represented CSLEA. CSLEA and HPAC provided the cadets with lunch and information regarding the benefits they receive as union members and answered any questions they had regarding union membership and employment-related questions.
“We welcome our newest HPAC/CSLEA members,” said CSLEA President Alan Barcelona. “No peace officer, or any public safety employee, should work without the safety net of a union. We are here to represent our members and defend if necessary. We work for our members and our members are all represented on our board of directors.”
