January 14, 2021
Hello Rangers and Peace Officer-Lifeguards:
As of January 1, 2021, SPPO Rangers and Lifeguards now have their own CSLEA affiliate and will once again be known as SPPOAC – State Park Peace Officers Association of California.
This will give us a voting seat on the CSLEA board and allow us to provide the best possible service to our members. (CDFW Wardens now have their own separate affiliate and will also have their own seat on the CSLEA Board) This is good news!
The new SPPOAC will be holding elections for board members in March. Please look for an email on nominations and voting. We will be voting for President, Vice President and six board members. With that in mind, please update your contact information with CSLEA, sign up for newsletters, and visit CSLEA.com. Only SPPOAC members will be allowed to vote, if you are not a member of CSLEA/PORAC/SPPOAC and would like to become one, you can sign up for membership online.
CSLEA will be holding a union site rep class via Zoom on the afternoon of February 23, 2021. Site reps are the first and most important resource to solving issues our members have and it is a great way to learn about your rights and privileges as a state employee and peace officer. You can sign up by emailing CSLEA Senior Counsel Andrea Perez.
SPPOAC is working hard to advocate for all our represented employees. We want to hear from all our represented employees on what your thoughts and priorities are for us in the future. Please watch for that email, respond, and encourage others to provide feedback as well.
Fraternally,
Matt Yarbrough
SPPOAC President
and your SPPOAC Board of Directors
