SACRAMENTO – On January 27, 2021, California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) Senior Counsel Andre Perez and CHP-Public Safety Dispatchers Association Vice President Victor Tovar met, via teleconference, with four dispatchers training at the California Highway Patrol.
“We conducted a new employee orientation with two dispatchers from the Orange County Communications Center and two from the Ventura Com Center,” said Perez. “This is our opportunity to introduce the union to them and answer questions. It’s always nice if they can put faces with the names and the same goes for us.”
Tovar and Perez discussed the benefits of union membership and shared the many different reasons CHP dispatchers have called upon their union for assistance. “It’s reassuring in a job like theirs, to know there is union assistance available for a multiple of things and that, as a union member, a CSLEA attorney is always just a phone call or email away.”
“We wish the dispatchers a happy and successful career in public safety and thank them for their service,” said CSLEA President Alan Barcelona. “They are embarking upon what can be a stressful job with many highs and definitely some lows and we stand ready to assist them in their journeys.”
